The seminar focuses on both early and later Greek inscriptions and provides training in the discipline of transcribing and analyzing epigraphic evidence. Emphasis is placed on technical (dating, epichoric alphabets, dialects, corpora and databases, etc.) and contextual (cultural, iconographic) aspects of different types of inscribed material (stone, vases, shards of clay pottery, metals such as bronze, mosaics).
