This class will address the beginning and the end of the production and distribution process. Each student will develop a short (under 10 minute) film, which they will have to produce, edit and ready for distribution and marketing. Concurrently, each student will pick a professional completed film for which they will create and execute a marketing plan. They will correlate their work on the finished films into the decision-making process for their own films throughout the process. The goal of this class is to give students real world experience in production with an eye towards selling their film or idea by the end of the semester. They will also learn how to pitch their ideas to real industry executives. At the end of the semester, student films will be screened in a commercial theater and may be chosen to be distributed by a global distribution platform.
