After starting with the seminal work of Ramon y Cajal, often considered the father of modern neuroscience, we will move on to the identification of selected neurotransmitters, including serotonin, enkephalins, and endocannabinoids, as well as their receptors. Additional topics will include the role of orexin in narcolepsy, leptin in appetite control, and prions.
