Students praised this course, which looks at empires such as those of Persia, Assyria and Rome, for having a passionate instructor. Students’ perceived issues with the course varied widely, although a few students wished that the instructor assigned additional graded work so their grades wouldn’t be solely based on how wel they did on essays. Suggestions to improve the course varied although several students wished the course would spend more time digging into the empires that were examined in the course. Prospective students should know that the course focused on three empires and the course was a writing intensive course. 242
