This course introduces students to the basic approaches to trauma and PTSD in order to explore their representation in the world of the biblical prophets. Among ancient empires, the right to violence was justified by invoking the power of magical weapons given by deities. The study of traumatic events demonstrates that violence leaves indelible marks upon individuals. Students will employ trauma approaches in order to make sense of violent imagery and issues of gender representation.
