Average Course Rating

(-1)

If we have no free will, are we absolved of all guilt? Further, can guilt be ascribed to a group? We will be examining these questions and exploring the concept of guilt from both the personal and the political perspective. In particular, we will explore P.F. Strawson’s seminal essay, “Freedom and Resentment,” and Karl Jaspers, The Question of German Guilt. Students will not only engage with historically important works, but also hone their analytic skills.
