The course aims to understand how international politics impact Latin America and how the region affects the liberal international order. The course begins with an overview of the role of Latin America in the world and of key international order theories from the International Relations literature. It then turns to a consideration of how Latin American countries actively build and maintain international institutions, engage with liberal issues, and face challenges to the international order.
