This seminar will survey the cognitive, developmental, and evolutionary origins of our capacities to use abstract ideas and logical representations to learn, form predictions and make decisions. The seminar will explore the growing field of research that investigates the foundations of logical thought in language acquisition, preverbal infants' cognition, and the mind of our close and distant relatives in the animal world. This course is limited to: Psychology Majors and Minors. Prerequisites: AS.200.110 OR AS.200.132.
