The best aspects of the course included the creative atmosphere, the insightful readings, and the assignments that made sure students were using the skil s they learned. The worst aspect of the course was the professor’s disorganization. The course often lacked structure and students sometimes did not know what to expect in class. The course would improve if there was consistency in the class schedule, as wel as an increase in the number of assignments. Prospective students should know that this is a fun course where students wil be able to improve their writing in a motivating environment.

Students found the class discussions and the workshops to be some of the best aspects of this course. The professor had helpful insights into the art of writing, and provided good feedback that helped students improve their writing skil s. Many students found that too much time was spent on the reading materials and not enough time was spent in the workshops. They thought that increasing workshop time and decreasing class discussions, or keeping to a stricter, more organized schedule would improve the class immensely. Students also would have liked more writing assignments, and a bit more direction in what the professor expected for each assignment. Any student considering this course should know that although the workload is somewhat light, the writing level is a much higher and more rigorous writing techniques wil be taught over the semester.

The best aspects of this course included the intriguing material, the instructor’s encouragement to try less traditional forms of writing, and the variety of books read throughout the semester. Some students felt the instructor did not provide enough writing assignments. One suggestion was for the instructor to communicate a daily class agenda so that students know what to expect. Another suggestion was to clarify the expectations of the assignments. Prospective students should know that this class can, at times, be lecture-heavy and is consistently writing-intensive.
