This course will explore the short story collection as a form. We will read complete collections by writers including James Joyce, Alice Munro, Jhumpa Lahiri, and Carmen Maria Machado, thinking about the ways collections are implicitly or explicitly linked, and what the stories gain from being put in conversation. Written assignments will include both creative and critical responses to the reading.
