The best aspects of this course included the variety of lecturers, the assignments that were actual y fun, and learning about relevant material such as the Affordable Care Act and the prominent issues facing the healthcare field; also, the instructor presented a lot of information without overwhelming the students. Some students felt that the course lacked interaction. Also, students felt that the lectures were often redundant and sometimes dry. Suggestions included potential y incorporating different media into the lectures, posting students’ grades on Blackboard, clarifying the questions on the exams, and al owing students to take notes during the lecture as opposed to after. Prospective students should go to class, pay attention, and look at the review slides for the exams.

The lab discussions and the guest speakers seemed to be the best aspects of this course. The controversial issue of the Affordable Care Act was covered during this course, and students also grasped an idea of how healthcare works in the United States. In addition, the TA sections solidified material for students and also brought up new subject matter. Lectures were often times boring, repetitive, or too detailed or complicated, and the TA’s were harsh at times. Students suggested that the professor use a microphone because he is hard to understand, the exams better reflect lectures, and more appealing presentations and guest speakers. Prospective students interested in the Affordable Care Act should take this course.

The best part about this course was the wide range of health policy issues discussed and the interesting guest lecturers. Weekly assignments kept students on track throughout the semester. Many students found it frustrating they did not receive review sessions before exams which were broad and ambiguous. This course could be improved by making lecture slides available prior to class, having less repetitive lectures, and offering review sessions a week in advance. Prospective students should know this class requires a one page paper every week. It is important students pay attention in lecture and remain up to date on assigned readings.
