The best aspect of the course was the smal seminar setting where students got to discuss the material amongst their peers. The worst aspect of the course was the unclear and unfocused topics. The professor wasn’t able to clearly deliver the course content and students found themselves often confused about the readings and concepts. The course could improve if the entire curriculum was better structured to include clearer discussions and possibly handouts to help students get a better grasp of the sociology concepts. Prospective students should know that this course wil help them get a feel of sociological concepts and the workload is not very heavy.

Students praised this course’s two instructors for being willing to provide individual feedback to students and working with them as they completed their assignments. Some students thought the course was a big commitment and swal owed up a good amount of time. Suggestions for improvement included a desire for even more feedback on how their assignments went. Some students also expressed interest in professional development workshops focused on skil s such as how to give presentations and public speaking. Prospective students should know that students thought the course was for self-starting independent students who knew how to manage their time.

Students in this course that emphasized independent research praised it for having an instructor who was approachable and helpful. Students had few issues with this course; however, some students found that the independent nature of this class could make it stressful as they had to complete a substantial amount of work. Students wanted the course to provide students with additional support so that they would have a better idea of how to handle the required research. Students thought it would be helpful if the instructor went over examples and methods or if the instructor had students complete some group work together. Prospective students should know that students found the course required a big time commitment as it involved a large amount of independent work. 292
