Art is not confined to the makers labors with traditional art materials. Art is transactional and can be made of anything. It brings forth personal narrative ones internal experience in a concrete form ±and seeks resonance with the viewer. Art-making is a shared place of possibility and self-revelation, available to anyone with a desire to make visible their thoughts and feelings. Students will engage with novel creative processes and materials and will be challenged to broaden their perspectives on the essential nature of art. Personal narratives will be deepened through a class visit to the American Visionary Art Museum, as well as a short-term group residency with the artists of Make Studio in Hampden. Approval for this course will be considered after enrollment on ISIS; no need to email.

Many students described this course as amazing and different. Students felt that the class environment was not judgmental, but instead was freeing. This course al ows students to think outside of the box and is good for students with little art experience. However, if improving upon techniques and skills is a goal for the student, this course may not be the best choice. Many students also said the course lacked structure. Suggestions for improvement include: field trips, more reading and theory, more structure, and use of Blackboard discussion forums. Prospective students should not expect much work, but a fun time.

Students were delighted with the practical and relatable information that was taught in this class. The Professors were able to grab and hold the attention of students throughout the semester. Students appreciated the discussions that emerged surrounding this interesting material and its relevance to current events. Many students who had already taken Human Sexuality, felt that this class was repetitive. Students suggested having more guest speakers. Prospective students sensitive to topics regarding sexuality should not take this class. This course was highly recommended by many students.
