Step into the dynamic world of heritage management with this place-based virtual seminar, where you’ll explore the unique cultural, natural, and intangible heritage challenges facing a specific region. Drawing on the rich and diverse heritage of a designated location, this seminar invites you to engage deeply with real-world issues, develop practical solutions, and discover new opportunities for sustainable heritage practice. Through a combination of virtual field trips, group discussions, and collaborative projects, you will apply the knowledge and skills you’ve developed throughout the Cultural Heritage Management program. This is a hybrid course with both asynchronous and synchronous components. In this course, you'll connect with your peers and instructors to examine the latest trends in the field, uncover new insights, and strategize solutions to pressing heritage concerns. This seminar is a unique opportunity to bridge theory and practice, providing a platform for you to refine your leadership and problem-solving abilities in a collaborative environment. You’ll also have the chance to reflect critically on the future of heritage management through journals, group work, and a final reflection paper, synthesizing what you’ve learned throughout the program. Please pay special attention to the times the course meets synchronously online. Prerequisite: Students must have completed at least six courses in the Cultural Heritage Management program, including 465.702 Studies in World Heritage and 465.704 Heritage Management and Leadership.
