This course will have a technology component and an advanced topics component. The student will learn and use several products within the technology component: Oracle Data Modeler for database modeling, PL/SQL for creating program units that use SQL, and Oracle Enterprise Manager and Tool for Oracle Application Developer (TOAD) for managing Oracle RDBMS and program units. For the advanced topics component, we will learn advanced SQL programming for complex queries and data preparation for analysis. We will learn the concept of Data Warehouse and integration of Data Warehouse with transaction database. Consecutively, students will practice simple data analytics with PL/SQL. In addition, the course introduces RDBMS vs. NoSQL, OLTP, and database uses for the web.
