This course explores the profession of information systems consulting and the art and science of providing management counsel to organizations in the public and private sectors. It exposes students to complex business challenges, provides them with constructive feedback and opportunities for reflection, and enables them to learn by applying evidence-based approaches to current business contexts. Students will utilize an array of skills and knowledge gained in the program in the process of working on real information technology projects within real business organizations. Students will experience all of the challenges associated with these projects, within the bounds of an academically rigorous course. Throughout this course, participants will engage in hands-on, real-world scenarios, developing a comprehensive understanding of the key principles, methodologies, and best practices essential for effective IT consulting. Specifically, students will work with a project partner (corporate sponsor). Several student teams will work on the same project to compete and deliver the best results, as judged by the instructor in consultation with the client. While completing this learning experience, students will work under the close supervision of a faculty advisor and corporate sponsor.
