What does it mean to “innovate?” How do we create new ideas for changing the world that are equitable and inclusive? The answers may be more involved, but more impactful than you think; it’s something you can and will do throughout your time at Hopkins! This first-year seminar will educate and empower, encourage and equip your own innovative ideas, rooted in community, and aspiring to make a difference. Build a business. Start a nonprofit. Change the way things work, here and now. Co-taught by staff from innovation initiatives across campus, we’ll be engaging closely with real-world scenarios as we research the challenges and opportunities all around us, ultimately leading to the proposal of new, innovative, and effective solutions to impact our community, on and off campus--and beyond. This is a course for dreamers who want to do, observers who want to take action, for the curious and the committed.
