creditsAverage Course Rating
The 600-level Independent Project course supports technical exploration and skill development through an individually tailored, faculty-supervised project in electrical and computer engineering. The student and supervising faculty member will jointly define the subject matter, study objectives, learning outcomes, and assessment methods, including grading criteria. The project may involve study of instructor-recommended topics using existing lecture materials, textbooks, and journal articles. Learning outcomes will be assessed through agreed-upon quizzes, exams, projects, and/or presentations. The final course grade will be based on the student’s demonstrated mastery of the material as measured by these assessments. The supervising faculty member will determine whether the work meets the course’s academic and scholarly standards. Prior to enrollment, an Independent Project proposal form outlining the scope, assessment plan, and deliverables must be approved by the student’s academic advisor, the supervising faculty member, and the ECE program chair. Students are expected to draw on knowledge from prior EP ECE coursework to inform and support their project.
