The best aspects of this course were working on independent projects and getting the freedom to design a project of students choosing. The negative aspects were the lack of guidance from the professor and his inaccessibility. Students suggested that the course would be improved by more communication with the professor and better structure of the course. Students should know that the course has a high level of independent work. Students in this course need to set their own schedule and be very responsible for their work.

Students thought that the best aspects of this course included the independent project where they could design and work on a real-life scenario. They found that they got to apply what they’d learned in previous courses to their project. They did not like the quizzes in the course and also found that the lectures were not applicable to their projects. They believed that the course could use more structure and lectures that were tailored towards the students’ projects, or get rid of the lectures altogether and simply have check-in meetings with the professor over the course of the semester. Prospective students should be prepared to work on a team outside of class. They should be self-motivated and self-sufficient enough to dedicate the time they wil need to work on the project.

Students praised this course for giving them the freedom to design a project of their own choosing. Students had few issues with the course, although some students found that the freedom of the course also made it hard for students to figure out what the scope and expectations were for their project. Students had few suggestions to improve the course and one student even found it was perfect. One suggested improvement was for the instructors to better utilize the Blackboard website as a discussion tool. Prospective students should know that students found this course to be a very rewarding; however, students also found it important to be self-driven given the nature of the course.
