creditsAverage Course Rating
There are any number of predictions on how AI will impact the future of work, including a national academies study on the topic. However, the fact is that how work is impacted and how it changes depends fundamentally on both what “the work” is, the level of AI performance necessary to create an effective solution, and if or how human support is involved in the solution. The goal of this course is to 1) Explore different application areas of AI – its use in information-intensive tasks, its use in image-intensive tasks, and its use in physical world tasks; 2) Understand the system structures that are being developed to deploy AI – for example how human backup is used to support systems that require high fidelity; 3) Touch on some of the policy and regulatory structures that impact our ability to develop and deploy AI-driven solutions. Students are expected to have some background in AI.
