The best aspects of this course included the instructor’s willingness to help and the “real life” scenarios she presented. One student felt that several assignments were often due on the same day. Another student felt the instructor went through the material at too rapid a pace. Suggestions included reviewing financial accounting a little more and providing students with short-answer problems on the exams. Prospective students should know it’s important to attend every class and take thorough notes. 121

Many students agreed that this course was filled with useful material that can be applied to everyday work in the business world. This course provided great intellectual challenges, but is balanced with support. Also, students were allowed to refer to their classmates before turning in difficult homework assignments. The instructor made expectations very clear and she did a great job of answering questions. The exams were difficult and mostly based on memorization, and working with a new partner each week on problem sets became time consuming. Also, the course load was heavy. Suggestions for improvement include: more problem set practice, a better partner system, a new exam format, and posting notes before class so students can review them. Prospective students should be ready to work hard and think for themselves.

The best aspects of this course included the engaging and productive lectures, relevant coursework, and the fair, experienced instructor. Students felt that the course time period was too long, problem sets were difficult, and lectures were sometimes boring. Suggestions for improvement included having consistent assignments to practice concepts, more opportunities to review material with the TA, and more group projects. Prospective students wil find the coursework chal enging and are encouraged to attend class and complete all assigned problem sets even if they are optional. A background in financial accounting would be beneficial.
