Professional success at every level depends on effective professional communication. Whether applying to an internship or job, asking a colleague for help with a project, making a new professional contact, or requesting a promotion, the ability to articulate oneself clearly and with empathy is integral. This course will prepare students to communicate in a variety of professional, pre-professional, and academic scenarios, with a special emphasis on navigating the job market. Students will learn how to produce effective resumes, CVs, and cover letters; make themselves stand out in interviews (both online and in-person); network authentically and compellingly; and connect with helpful mentors in their chosen field. The skills gained in this course will help students leverage their high-level, technical training to set themselves apart in today's competitive job market.
