The student will be working with me as director of the blood management program to improve blood utilization across the Johns Hopkins Health System. The goal is to reduce unnecessary transfusions, deemed to be one of the top 5 overused procedures in US hospitals. Database analytic skills and statistical analyses will be taught. These are methods that will be helpful in any future research endeavors. The hospital loves us because we and save the hospital blood and money.
