The overall goal to investigate how hearing loss changes synaptic organization of brain pathways and how those changes are reflected in behavior and auditory processing. Current studies focus on animal models of aging, hearing in noise, and the effects of noise-induced hearing loss on non-auditory behaviors. Opportunities exist for investigating anatomical central and peripheral synaptic changes in models of hearing loss, as well as behavioral and evoked potential assays.
