This course provides students with the basic skills to complete a comprehensive health assessment including the physical, psychological, and social aspects of health to support person-centered care. Integrated in this assessment is the collection and analysis of data which are essential in planning safe and effective patient care. Lectures are designed to help the students apply their knowledge of health assessment to both primary and acute care settings. Emphasis is placed on gathering reliable and relevant information; recognizing variations of normal findings; and identifying abnormal findings using common health problems as exemplars.
