This is the second of five sequential theory courses that will prepare Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP) students to provide primary care to pediatric patients, especially in those experiencing common chronic illnesses in one or more body systems. It integrates evidence-based aspects of care that are based on age, gender, sexuality and social determinants of health. Content addresses comprehensive assessment, diagnosis and management of common chronic health conditions, including appropriate diagnostic procedures, laboratory tests, and follow-up care for patients with common chronic conditions. PNP students focus on health care for the pediatric population with particular emphasis on underserved and those from various cultures, emphasizing health promotion, patient education, and disease prevention.
