Introduces students to the latest thinking on healthcare quality and patient safety through exposure to specific topics, interactive exercises and case studies that have direct relevance for the public health practitioner, healthcare administrator and clinician in improving the healthcare system. Focuses on defining and understanding quality and patient safety using a number of established and newer models, including Baldrige, STEEP, and SPLICE. Examines healthcare quality and patient safety from a strategic viewpoint with the goal of providing healthcare administrators the skills and knowledge to be effective drivers of quality and patient safety improvement.
