Students learn the health information technology (HIT) standards critical to the successful implementation of local, regional, national and international health information systems. Target competencies are to specify user (clinicians, public health professionals) needs for an information system that will supports data collection and exchanges in the process of solving a public health problem; identify HIT standards for such information system; and learn about user role in a national HIT standardization process.
