Examines the role of the risk sciences in the public policy process. Presents a case study approach to the broad societal context of risk-based decision-making, including the scientific, social, economic, legal and political factors that drive the policy process. Provides an overview of risk management tools and the application of risk communication principles and strategies. Provides an understanding of how the risk sciences are applied in the formulation and implementation of public health risk policy in “the real world.”
