Emphasizes writing from the reader’s perspective, incorporating narrative style, and practicing all elements of effective scholarly writing. Challenges the notions that scholarly writing is difficult, and that research papers are not pleasurable to write or to read. Addresses other types of academic writing such as letters of recommendation; (these elements are not formal assignments). Presents diverse instructional formats: didactic elements, small group work, and class critique of student texts and texts from published papers.
