Describes, demonstrates and trains in the use of key tools used at leading institutions to improve quality of care and patient safety. These include the Comprehensive Unit-based Safety Program (CUSP), Plan Do Study Act (PDSA), Translating Research into Practice (TRiP), Human Factors Analysis and Classification System (HFACS), Systems Engineering Initiative for Patient Safety (SEIPS), Lean Six Sigma, Management Discussion & Analysis (MD&A), Safer Matrix, briefings, debriefings and TeamSTEPPSĀ©. Presents a framework and strategies for the successful implementation of quality improvement interventions, including specific approaches, methods, structures and resources to promote uptake of the components of an intervention. Learners gain first hand experience through role playing, individual and group exercises and simulations with each of the techniques.
