Managing the Covid-19 Pandemic: from Epidemiology to Policy

This course will enhance one’s knowledge about the emergence of novel severe acute respiratory syndrome 2 (SARS-CoV-2) virus, which causes the disease known as COVID-19. The sessions will discuss cutting edge knowledge about virology and epidemiology of SARS-CoV-2, and its clinical presentation and treatment. Participants will examine the key policy and ethical challenges in managing this pandemic that require a balance of individual liberties with public safety. All students enrolled in this course are expected to complete required readings prior to the start of the course. Students enrolled in this course will be evaluated for receipt of the certificate of participation based on class participation. Students taking this course for Johns Hopkins or UPF academic credit will be further evaluated by a final paper due no later than December 23, 2020.
