Guitar Institute Faculty: Paul Bollenback Julian Gray Zane Forshee Kim Perlak Bobby Stanton David Tronzo The Summer Guitar Institute is a one-week intensive that provides guitarists of all abilities the opportunity to study with a world-class faculty at the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University. The Summer Guitar Institute is open to high school students, undergraduate, graduate and beyond. This program is inclusive to all styles: Classical, Jazz, and Steel String. Participants will be assigned to a faculty member for their homeroom/morning warm up for the week. Each guitarist will have the opportunity to perform for every faculty member over the course of the week during the second workshop/master class at 10:30 am offered each morning. In addition to solo guitar studies, each participant will be placed in a section of the Guitar Orchestra with ensemble parts to be sent by July 1. Designed to educate the total musician, the curriculum combines a focused study of solo repertoire with the opportunity to explore parallel disciplines, perform side-by-side with faculty in the Guitar Orchestra, and attend evening concerts by faculty artists. Each day also features an Enrichment Class on topics ranging from the Basics of Recording to Musician’s Wellness. The week culminates with a recital of solo performances by participants as well as the Guitar Orchestra.
