This challenging full-day program for female and male students- from promising beginners to highly motivated professional aspirants-provides a strong focus on technique classes in ballet (for all levels), men’s and pointe/variations classes (only for upper-level students who demonstrate technical readiness), and contemporary dance (elementary to advance levels). Technique classes are creatively balanced by additional classes in Improvisation/Composition, African Dance, other dance forms, stretch/conditioning, theatre craft, Dance History and Percussion. These offerings vary from year to year. The program culminates in a studio performance, bringing together the participants’ whole course of study during this intensive period — a unique and rewarding experience for both the students and the family audience. Students new to Peabody Dance with previous dance training must complete a placement class to determine which level is appropriate. Beginners with no formal training will enter Level A and do not need a placement class. Level A: Ages 7-12, beginners and students with one year or less of formal ballet training. Level B: Elementary Level C: Upper Elementary Level D: Intermediate I/II Level E: Upper Intermediate III/Advanced
