August 7 - 11, 2017, Towson Lauren Rausch, Director Presented by Young People's String Program For string players ages 6 and up currently playing in Suzuki Books 1-5 Allegro Strings at Peabody provides a week of intensive music and enrichment classes. Group classes provide the opportunity to refine ensemble skills, perform for others, review and polish known songs, and learn new songs outside of the Suzuki repertoire. The Suzuki Book 4-5 group will also be sent repertoire from outside the Suzuki books to practice before camp and polish in class. Enrichment classes include such topics as dance, art, and world instruments and are designed to enhance the creative spirit of the program. A bucket band class exposes children to a hands on rhythm training and further enhances ensemble skills. Orchestra experience includes pieces for students in Suzuki Books 1-5. Full orchestra and sectional rehearsals are held throughout the week. Group classes and the orchestra will perform a final concert in the Towson auditorium on Friday, the last day of the program for both weeks, at 3:00 pm. Monday-Friday, 9:00 am-3:00 pm Partial day program offers violin, viola and cello groups which meet for two hours daily to play Suzuki repertoire, reinforce technical skills, and refine ensemble performance ability. After lunch break, students will attend enrichment and music theory classes. Students will perform selected pieces on the last day of camp for the final concert.
