For Voice Students from Pre-Teen to High School June 26- June 30, 2017 (Monday - Friday) Alina Kozinska, Director Annapolis Campus Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts, Studio 201 801 Chase Street Annapolis, Maryland 21401 The Summer Vocal Academy (SVA) is a 1-week intensive program for singers in middle to high school. It is designed to introduce the young singer to what it means to be a vocal artist by experiencing the discipline of preparing for a performance. Emphasis is on voice technique, musical phrasing, and interpretation of art songs as poems, so that the singer can become a channel for communicating the music and the words to the audience. Morning activities include solo voice technique and repertoire classes. Afternoon enrichment includes English diction for singers, acting/poetry, stage movement, musicianship, stage makeup, and mastering the inner game of singing classes. The program culminates in a concert of art songs and poems, with all students performing on the last evening of the academy.
