This course aims to guide your development as musicians in an urban landscape and ever-changing professional music community. We will investigate and expand possibilities in our own performance, engage with our own creativity, and facilitate music making with others. You will have the opportunity to explore and respond to flexible, open and diverse musical environments. Lead tutors will share numerous ideas and approaches, enabling you to form your own ideas about music making and community engagement. This one-week intensive project will focus on collaborative composition, facilitation of active music making in diverse settings, and cultivation of your own creative voice. It will conclude with a community project in which you create and perform a musical composition in collaboration with other Peabody students and community participants. Our hope is that Peabody students will form a better understanding and connection with the city which they live in, as well as form a deeper relationship with their own music making.
