This course traces the legacy of the great singers of the first half of the 20th century through recorded sound, including singers such as Adelina Patti, Francesco Tamagno, Enrico Caruso, Amelita Galli-Curci, Lily Pons, Lauritz Melchio, and more. The course also focuses on the history and evolution of recorded sound from early Edison innovations to the world of today's recordings and features visits to Peabody’s state-of-the-art recording studio.
