The purpose of this course is to provide an understanding of the statistical tools required to assess and conduct quantitative research in economics and the social sciences. The course has a focus on applications and a practical approach. In order to obtain a better understanding of the concepts taught in lectures, an emphasis is placed on using software such as Excel and STATA. Successful completion of this course will prepare students for more advanced courses in econometrics.
