America’s relations with its allies have been transformed since the end of the Cold War. This course examines the enlargement of NATO; allied military interventions in Bosnia, Kosovo, Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, and Mali; allied efforts to address Russia's revanchism and invasion of Ukraine; and America’s evolving alliances in Asia. It takes moral, political, and strategic perspectives. Emphasis is on understanding the role of allies in American statecraft. Student focused, seminar format, with written and oral assessments aimed to strengthen practical student skills.
