This course incorporates the study of leadership models, frameworks, historical case studies, and contemporary challenges that facilitate your critical analysis of factors contributing to successful leadership at the strategic level. The Strategic Leadership course builds upon your past leadership experiences to develop and hone the additional skills required to lead successfully at the strategic level. We recognize and acknowledge that you are a proven leader. However, we will work to expand your frame of reference and encourage you to think differently about your role and the expectations of a senior leader in the contemporary era. The course explores the following themes: the uniqueness of the environment and the leader’s role at the strategic level; the importance of strategic thinking; applying strategic leadership to a specific set of key challenges; the significance of ethics and professionalism for the strategic military leader; and leading in an environment of strategic competition versus major adversaries.
