The water, energy and food (WEF) nexus is a topic of growing interest in the research and policy communities. Critical physical linkages include the enormous appropriation of water resources for food and energy production, the high energy demand of the water sector for transport and treatment, and the uncertain impacts that climate change will have on all three components. Policy issues include water rights and pricing, energy infrastructure development, and water competition between sectors.
