The course will focus on the Arab States of the Arab/Persian Gulf. It will study the oil and gas industry there, how it funds the States and how the money is funneled on to the societal actors to maintain political stability. It will evaluate the modernization and development plans put forth by the leaderships of the Gulf, such as Vision 2030 in Saudi Arabia. The class will analyze the rift between Qatar and the other members of the GCC.
