Academics are trained to conduct research such that their efforts can be repeated, verified, and updated. They report their efforts through a number of genre including the process of peer-review publication such that other experts with specialized knowledge regarding the subject evaluate the work and either deny for publication, recommend editors accept with revisions, or recommend for publication. Academic writing follows a prescribed process which enables others reviewing the results to do so with efficiency and the ability to repeat the methodology used. This course provides an opportunity for participants to develop and apply skills that will advance their evaluative capacity of quality information. In addition, this course enhances capacity toward research and analysis skills that are essential in communicating ideas. Finally, this course provides participants an opportunity to develop a research paper through a stepwise process from developing a research question, writing plan, peer-review, and production of a final paper.
