The professional skills course will take interested students through the mechanics of creating a non-profit or mission driven start up, what donors, foundations, and investors look for, and how to craft a compelling and value pitch for your organization. Imbued in the workshop will be lessons in team building, business planning, funding an enterprise, and leadership skills. By the end of this workshop, students will better understand successful examples of social innovation, the importance of customer discovery in founding a social venture, how to successfully pitch a startup idea to foundations and investors, and how to successfully build programs and influence change inside complex organizations.
